Death Row

I was stood outside a hardware store with my dog one day, waiting for my partner who had gone inside, and I was struck by the colourful and bright display in the window, which drew me in. As I began to look closer, I realised nearly all the products on display were pest control items, mostly to kill unwanted ‘pests’. The contrast of the bright colours and the macabre subject matter appealed to me as an artist. It also questions what we consider ‘pests’, as it seems to be beings who have become too successful living alongside us humans and the world we have created, and must be punished for it.
